Winch Design creates air ambulance livery

An Augusta Westland 169 and two rapid response vehicles, a Skoda Octavia and a Vauxhall Insignia, have been decorated with a new livery created by Winch Design for the newly merged Essex and Herts Air Ambulance service (EHAAT) in the UK.

“We have created a bold design to celebrate the merger of the two services and ensure the brand has a distinctive presence, which will become a familiar site around the area, promoting safety and reassurance,” said Jim Dixon, head of aviation at Winch Design.

The project was a departure for Winch Designs, and part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. “We worked very closely with EHAAT, and with brand agency Simplify on all aspects of the liveries,” said Dixon.

“We wanted to ensure that the newly developed brand logo was as visible in the air as it was when the helicopter was on the ground, and that the arrival of the helicopter at the incident scene gave immediate reassurance to those involved – hence both the circular logo and the words ‘Air Ambulance’ are boldly featured on the underside of the flying aircraft.

“It was also important to create a livery which becomes immediately familiar and recognizable to the local community which it serves, to give this non-profit organization as much leverage and visual exposure as possible to support their much-needed fundraising efforts.”
