Mente unveils new approach to recruitment

Mente Group has launched a recruitment program that hones in on candidates’ technical capabilities from the very start. With the Aviation Personnel Placement Program, candidates – for example, for engineering, dispatch or flight attendant roles – are interviewed by someone with experience in that field.

First, candidates face a phone interview covering their background and thoughts on important technical issues. They then undertake a psychological assessment, and finally a face-to-face interview.

Christopher Broyhill, Mente’s vice president of consulting, is leading the program. He has 30 years of leadership experience in military and business aviation. Alongside him will be Don Hammer, whose 45 years in business aviation included technician, completions manager and operational auditor roles.

Broyhill has implemented a scoring matrix inspired by a method used in the US Air Force. “When the Air Force were deciding who to promote, they couldn’t interview everyone, so they’d look through everyone’s personnel folders and score them on certain criteria to narrow down the candidates,” he said. “We do the same throughout our recruitment process.”
