Send Solutions’ text messaging systems approved for Part 23 aircraft

3S Engineering, which has FAA STC Organization Designation Authorization, has issued an Approved Model List (AML) STC for Send Solutions’ Airtext and Airtext+. The certification enables these text messaging systems to be installed in FAR Part 23 aircraft included in the STC’s AML, including the Pilatus PC-12 and the Textron King Air 90/200/300 series.

“We are very excited to collaborate with the Send Solutions team to market an FAA-approved STC installation package for its revolutionary Airtext products,” said Randy Eno, general manager at 3S Engineering.

“The AML STC allows Airtext customers and their selected aircraft modification centers to purchase an affordable solution that gives crew members and passengers the seamless connectivity they enjoy on the ground while avoiding the complexity and delays of seeking an FAA field approval.”

The approved package includes all necessary installation and airworthiness documentation. The system uses the Iridium satellite network to enable up to 16 passengers to use SMS messaging, whatever the altitude, at an average cost of five cents per message. Passengers access the service through a free app. It connects to the internet via a piece on onboard hardware.
