FCC invests to support ADS-B installation demand

Flying Colours Corp (FCC) has detailed how it is ramping up its ADS-B Out services to cater for demand ahead of the January 2020 mandate. By increasing both its equipment inventory and team numbers, the company has bolstered its capacity in this area by around 30%.

FCC holds FAA, TCCA and EASA STCs enabling it to install its ADS-B Out solution on Bombardier Challenger 604 and 605 aircraft. FCC has performed the installation on more than 20 of these aircraft in North America, and also sold the STC to other completion centers, enabling those to make a further 20 installations. FCC also holds an FAA STC for the solution on the Challenger 300, and is expecting to receive TCCA and EASA validation “in the coming weeks”, the company says.

“When we are upgrading avionics, scheduling maintenance, or talking to customers about conversions, we always have the ADS-B Out conversation to ensure that owners have considered all the options available,” said Kevin Kliethermes, director of sales for FCC. “We want to try and help futureproof their aircraft as there are many new avionics upgrades coming down the pipeline.”

Kliethermes predicts that FCC will see a substantial increase in demand for the installation over the next two years. With its two sites, the company has the capacity to perform 7-10 such installations each month.

“The technology has been mainly installed for private owners who are getting ahead of the game ensuring their aircraft will be ready, and futureproofed, to comply with the NextGEN air traffic management systems that are being introduced,” Kliethermes added.
