New city-pair records for G500 and G600

The Gulfstream G500 and G600 have achieved tandem city pair records, pending confirmation with the National Aeronautic Association, in their respective weight classes.

The aircraft flew from Shanghai, China, to Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, on April 20, 2018, at an average speed of Mach 0.90. The G500 completed the flight in 8 hours 34 minutes, and the G600 arrived a minute later.

The aircraft flew from Honolulu to Savannah, Georgia, USA, the next day, at Mach 0.90. The G500 completed the flight in 7 hours 44 minutes, and the G600 in 7 hours 49 minutes.

“Gulfstream customers are accustomed to flying practically anywhere in the world at record speeds, and the G500 and G600 have been doing just that as they near certification,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream.

“Our flagship G650ER has proven itself time and again as the highest-performing aircraft in the industry, and the G500 and G600 are performing equally well in their classes, even before customer deliveries. These records showcase the real-world capabilities of these impressive aircraft.”

The G500 has a range of 5,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 (long-range cruise) and 4,400 nautical miles at Mach 0.90 (high-speed cruise). The G600’s range is 6,500 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and 5,100 nautical miles at Mach 0.90. Gulfstream says the G500 is on track for certification this summer, with the G600 following later in 2018.
