Bombardier launches Global 5500 and Global 6500

Bombardier Business Aircraft has unveiled two additions to its business jet fleet: the Global 5500 and Global 6500, with ranges of 5,700 and 6,600 nautical miles respectively, top speeds of Mach 0.90 and Bombardier’s smooth ride technology.

The redesigned cabins aboard both aircraft will offer the patented Nuage seat, with its new seating architecture, which is designed to offer maximum comfort and effortless movement, according to Bombardier.

An additional seating innovation is available on the Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft – the Nuage chaise, which adds new dimensions to the conference suite as a lounge chair that converts into a flat surface for sleeping or banquet-style dining around the table.

Meanwhile, the Bombardier Vision flight deck on both aircraft introduces a combined vision system (CVS), which merges enhanced and synthetic images in a single view.

“Bombardier’s two newest Global aircraft are the result of our unrelenting commitment to innovation, excellence and most of all, our desire to deliver unmatched capabilities to our customers,” said David Coleal, president, Bombardier Business Aircraft.

“This next generation of performance stems from the winning DNA of our Global family of aircraft, now further enhanced through a newly optimized wing, a fully reimagined cabin and new, purpose-built engines.”

The Global 5500 and Global 6500 add to Bombardier’s large-category family, joining the Global 5000 and Global 6000, and its largest offering, the Global 7000.

The two new additions build on the success of the Global 5000 and Global 6000 by offering 500 and 600 nautical miles of additional range respectively, coupled with an up to 13% fuel burn advantage.

They also deliver a range increase of up to 1,300 nautical miles when operating out of hot-weather and high-altitude conditions, thanks to increased thrust and improved fuel efficiency.

The Global 5500 and Global 6500 are expected to enter service at the end of 2019.
