Sabena technics to expand capacity at Bordeaux

Sabena technics plans to build a new hangar at its facility at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport in France. Building work will begin this summer, and the company anticipates commencing operations at the hangar in January 2020.

The move is being made in anticipation of an increase in long-range wide-body aircraft in Europe. The 10,000m² hangar will be used for maintenance and modifications activities. It will accommodate long-range wide-body aircraft including the A350-1000 or B777-9X, or three military transport aircraft, such as the A400M, simultaneously.

“It is essential for us to collaborate closely with operators, both to understand their needs and plan ahead in order to deploy our manpower and resources accordingly,” said Philippe Rochet, the group’s chief operating officer.

“We are extremely excited to be able to support more aircraft and offer additional capacity to our customers. This new facility will strengthen our position as a leading independent European MRO, with the highest levels of performance and quality.”
