Gulfstream’s completion facility in Appleton, Wisconsin is to be expanded and renovated. The OEM said the expansion will create more than 200 jobs. The work is projected for completion in the third quarter of 2021.
“This expansion is another effort in our long-range plan to upgrade and modernise Gulfstream facilities to further support our customers,” said Mark Burns, president at the company. “Enhancing the Appleton completions operations is in line with Gulfstream’s culture of continuous improvement and will allow the craftspeople who create Gulfstream’s award-winning aircraft interiors to build on the excellence they already deliver.”
The hangar expansion and renovation is part of a collaborative partnership with Appleton International Airport. The project will increase the current space by more than 13,000ft² (1,208m²), bringing the total completions space to 126,500ft² (11,752m²).
The work will include an upgraded furniture finishing shop. Completions backshops will be consolidated to improve workflow efficiencies. Shipping and receiving capabilities will be boosted to increase safety, capacity and efficiency. Meanwhile, HVAC systems will be upgraded to increase sustainable operations.
The investment complements the expansion of Gulfstream Customer Support’s nearby MRO facility in 2019.
