PWI’s window LED upgrade for B200/250 King Air models has received STC approval from the FAA.
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this certification and so have B200/250 owners,” said Robi Lorik, president and CEO of PWI. “I’m happy to say that we have the parts ready to ship right now. Just send us the orders.”
The FAA has already given STC approval to a similar LED upgrade for the King Air 90, King Air 100 and King Air 200 model aircraft. The latest news means there are FAA STC-approved LED upgrades for all King Air models.
“This upgrade completely rejuvenates and refreshes the interior of the B200/250,” said Lorik. “Nobody likes sitting in a dated aircraft. The King Air B200/250 are first-rate aircraft. This upgrade provides first-rate lighting that owners of other models of King Air aircraft have already been enjoying.”
PWI noted that more than 6,000 B200 and 250 King Air aircraft have been built since production started in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The LED upgrade is designed to provide a contemporary feel and avoid creating a buzzing noise. PWI said that the upgrade provides 100,000 hours of life and a 33% weight saving compared to fluorescent lighting; that it requires 50% less measured operating current, eliminates high voltages and requires less ongoing maintenance.
“The B200/250 LED upgrade is more rugged and it’s also less expensive over the life of the light,” said Lorik. “We have given B200/250 owners the very best possible light for their aircraft and the best return on their cabin lighting investment.”
