Passenger IFEC interface specialist IFPL has won its third Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The company was this year recognised in the field of Innovation, having previously won in the International Trade category in 2008 and 2014.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise celebrate pioneering UK businesses. In 2021, 205 business were recognised nationally in the categories of International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity (through Social Mobility).
IFPL was honoured this year for its contactless payment and personalisation device for use in commercial passenger aircraft. The device can be installed as an addition to seatback IFE systems, and is designed for reliability, cost-effectiveness and protection against fraud.
“The aviation sector has been through a tough period recently, so being recognised as a company that is consistently working hard to create innovative products that will help operators to recover post-pandemic is a real boost,” said Geoff Underwood, founder and CEO of IFPL. “I’m so proud of the whole IFPL family for this fantastic achievement.”
The company was established in 1996 and is headquartered on the Isle of Wight. The team specialises in the design and manufacture of passenger interface solutions, supplying products to the global IFEC industry. Its range includes USB data and power solutions, MagJack, Long Life and Rapid Fit audio solutions, NFC and CRS payment modules and more.
Winners of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are personally approved by Her Majesty the Queen. Established in 1965, more than 7,000 companies have since received an award.
