An A321neoLR has arrived for a cabin conversion to be conducted by Lufthansa Technik’s Original Equipment & Special Aircraft Services business unit in Hamburg, Germany.
It is the first of two German Air Force A321neoLR aircraft set to undergo a cabin conversion for mission types including troop transport, parliamentary flight operations and medevac. The sister aircraft is to follow in the coming weeks. Delivery of the converted aircraft is scheduled for the second half of 2022.
The A321neoLR will be deployed on short-, medium- and long-haul flights. With the installations made by Lufthansa Technik, it will be possible for the aircraft to be used in four interior configurations. The passenger transport capacity ranges up to 136.
Furthermore, it will be possible to transport either up to six intensive-care patients, or up to 12 patients that are slightly or moderately ill, or injured. Various mixed configurations for patient transport will also be possible. Lufthansa Technik will therefore supply 12 Patient Transport Units (PTUs), as well as two reserve units required for the medevac role, to the German Armed Forces.
