STG Aerospace showcased three developments at this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) – a new emergency floor path marking system, the Universal Lighting concept, and an emergency exit system for business jets.
The new emergency floor path marking system, saf-Tglo SSUL-X11, is designed to be particularly narrow and light. It extends the existing SSUL-X range to its narrowest width yet – 11mm. The previous narrowest width was 18mm. This is intended to make a big difference to cabin aesthetics and blend into the cabin design, while maintaining all passenger safety requirements. It is EASA approved.
Meanwhile, drawing on its extensive experience of upgrading cabin lighting to Airbus and Boeing aircraft, STG launched a platform-agnostic Universal Lighting capability at AIX. Leveraging STG’s dynamic technology, the solution is designed to enable airlines to offer a more personalised experience to passengers with a full integration of the latest databus standards, and to bring the wide-body experience to narrow-body long-haul operations.
Thirdly, the company unveiled an emergency exit system package for business jets and small fixed-wing aircraft (CS23). It is intended to give more choice in how to meet the regulated requirements for passenger emergency exit systems, while providing full customisation options.
Using STG PatternMatch technology, the daytime colour and pattern of the wall or floor can be matched, be it signage or floor path marking. It matches wood, leather or flooring vinyls and carpet. STG said that the safety guidance system is then hidden until needed, while maintaining all passenger safety and product durability requirements.
The solution is self-illuminating, with no wiring, batteries or power consumption required. It features automatic activation – no switch needed, it just illuminates when needed. It is suitable for a range of applications, including progression signs, CS23 exit locators, operation instruction placards and window exit markers. The system has been designed to complement the aesthetics of cabin designs and is available in both a green glow or a patented blue glow option. The system is EASA approved.
