FAI Technik has completed a 7,800 landings’ inspection on a Bombardier Challenger 604, marking a milestone in the company’s maintenance capabilities. The project also involved a full cabin refurbishment.
The 7,800 landings’ inspection, achieved in more than 6,000 man hours, required extensive disassembly of the aircraft. Components including the engines, fuel tanks, APU, thrust reversers, and flight controls were removed for detailed non-destructive testing (NDT) such as X-ray, ultrasonic, eddy current and magnetic inspection.
FAI Technik performed a full cabin refurbishment, retaining the existing 18-passenger configuration, which the company said is highly demanded by customers. To further improve the aircraft’s operational capabilities, FAI Technik installed a SwiftBroadband (Aviator 350) satcom system, offering connectivity for passengers and crew.
“Performing a 7,800 landings’ inspection is a complex and rare undertaking,” said Michael Axtmann, managing director of FAI Technik. “I am proud of our team for their exceptional performance in delivering this project on time and to the satisfaction of our customer. Our ability to execute such intricate tasks reflects the unparalleled expertise of the team and the investments we’ve made in our MRO capabilities.”
FAI Technik is set to undertake a further 7,800 landings’ inspection on a Challenger 604 in January 2025.
