True Blue Power has introduced a new high-voltage TC6500 DC-to-DC converter. The TC6500 converts 270VDC to 28VDC to power avionics and other related systems on board business, commercial, defence and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft.
Weighing 10.4 lb (4.7kg), the TC6500 high-voltage converter is designed to be compact, lightweight and easy to install anywhere in the aircraft, including inside or outside of the pressure vessel. It can be installed in parallel for increased power output and redundancy, without the need for additional wiring. True Blue Power said features include remote on/off capability; military-grade connectors; and a rugged aluminium chassis.
The company continued that the DC-to-DC converter has 96% peak efficiency and features overload capacity up to 110% of the rated power without damage. It’s equipped with three brushless, temperature-controlled and speed-controlled fans, along with thermostatic on/off control.
Finally, True Blue Power said the converter has advanced protection features, offering input transient protection, low voltage shutdown, short circuit, and over current protection. The unit also provides a self-resetting over-temperature feature.
