One product set to be launched at NBAA 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 10-12, 2017, is the SD LTE Hub from Satcom Direct. The router is designed to support the latest cellular, wi-fi and satellite technology, bringing connectivity to small- to mid-size business aircraft, turboprops and rotary machines. It has already gained an FAA PMA and is available for new or retrofit projects.
The router offers connectivity through long-term evolution (LTE) technology on the ground, and through the aircraft’s air-to-ground (ATG) network or satcom system in the air. It works with L-, Ku-, and Ka-band networks.
The SD LTE Hub weighs 725g and measures approximately 17 x 14.7 x 2.5cm. Its 802.11ac wi-fi access point enables data transfer rates of up to 867Mbps across the cabin’s network. The product also interfaces with SD Pro, which provides real-time information to support flight operations and maintenance. On-screen moving maps are enabled through ARINC 429 inputs.
