Lufthansa Technik plans to begin European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) testing for its Induction Cooking Platform in August 2017. Simultaneously, the company is planning to create a service bulletin for the installation of the equipment, with a prime focus on ease of installation.
The Induction Cooking Platform enables the onboard chef to use a pan, toaster or pot to prepare meals. Cooking smells are eliminated by the integrated fume hood and odor filter system, and a smart pot containment system both covers and holds the applications securely in place during all phases of preparation and cooking – in particular during turbulence.
The platform fits into any aircraft galley, with dimensions of 287 x 570 x 269mm (ARINC size 4 and installation variants) and a weight of 13.5kg. It is offered as an all-in-one solution, including power unit, exhaust fan, special cover and locking systems.
“Given the amount of preliminary testing conducted, we are very confident that the ETSO process will be successful and that the product will be ready for installation in early 2018,” said Andrew Muirhead, vice president of Lufthansa Technik’s Original Equipment Innovation product division.
