A fourth aircraft has joined the Cessna Citation Longitude flight test fleet. It will be used to evaluate interior fit and finish, the environmental control system, pressurization and cabin technologies. The first Citation Longitude flew in October 2016, and Textron Aviation expects to gain FAA type certification for the super-midsize aircraft in 2017.
“With four aircraft now flying in the Longitude test program in less than eight months, we are demonstrating that our product development processes and teams are second to none,” said Brad Thress, senior vice president of engineering.
“In addition to further systems testing, this fourth aircraft allows us to evaluate the overall passenger experience in the cabin, which is just as vital as the performance and technology in the cockpit.”
The aircraft will accommodate up to 12 passengers, including an optional crew jump seat. The 6ft-tall, flat-floor cabin will feature a standard double-club configuration and forward wet galley.
Other highlights include the 5,950ft cabin altitude, fully berthable seats designed and made in-house, a walk-in baggage compartment that is accessible in flight, PED-controlled CMS, and internet connectivity.
