A head-of-state ACJ340-500 has arrived at AMAC Aerospace’s facility in Basel, Switzerland, where it will have a Ka-band system fitted, under an STC being developed in-house.
The company gained a Ka-band STC for the B737-900ER in January 2017, and is working on versions for the A340-600 and B777-200LR in addition to the A340-500, expecting these to be granted in the second quarter of 2017.
“Our engineering department has worked on more than 750 projects for which minor modifications and STCs have been developed,” said Roger Sandmann, head of engineering and certification and CVE, AMAC Aerospace.
“The STCs developed by AMAC for the Ka-band installation on the A330-200, A340-500/-600, B777-200LR and B737-900 offer a shorter downtime and a broader service portfolio to clients and are therefore a decisive market advantage when it comes to future Ka-band installation requests.”
The company is also busy performing maintenance work on three A340s and one B777 at its four-hangar facility in Basel. Further wide-bodies are expected later in 2017. An A330-200 is due to arrive in May 2017, for a C-Check, landing gear overhaul and interior refurbishment, including the re-upholstery of cabin seats and the installation of a new carpet.
