Sabena Technics earned EASA STC approval for the installation of a Honeywell JetWave Ka-band system on a wide-body Airbus. The Honeywell hardware supports GX Aviation’s Ka-band high-speed internet service, giving passengers access to wi-fi and IP TV.
Sabena Technics is set to conduct a similar modification on an A330 in the second quarter of 2017.
“Sabena Technics’ project, based on a fuselage-mounted antenna, was delivered in less than eight months,” said Lionel Bacquey, program manager. “Kit implementation was jointly performed by the customer’s and Sabena Technics’ staff at the customer’s main base. Downtime was limited to only three weeks.”
