Bombardier and partner the Tianjin Airport Economic Area (TAEA) have opened a service center in Tianjin, China.
The facility covers more than 95,766ft² and offers MRO and associated services.
It has Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification for Global, Challenger 604, Challenger 605 and Challenger 850 types, enabling it to carry out 96-month inspections on Challenger 600 series aircraft, and 120-month inspections on Global types.
“It shows the vitality of the Tianjin aviation industry and consolidates Tianjin’s position as an emerging aviation hub in China,” said Zhao Xuesen, vice president of TAEA. “The movement of business aircraft reached 1,528 at Tianjin Airport in 2016, a 17.36% increase from the previous year. With China’s growth strategy in place, a rapid expansion of the business aviation industry can be anticipated in Tianjin, in line with China’s 13th Five-Year Plan.”
Bombardier predicts demand for approximately 1,100 business jets in the Greater China, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific markets over the next decade. There are around 280 Bombardier business aircraft in Asia (as of 2016).
