Flying Colours KSUS in St Louis, Missouri, has a new vice president and general manager – Dave Stewart – who is already working to increase the facility’s workforce and footprint, to fulfil growing demand for interior completions, refurbishments and maintenance overhauls. As part of this, Stewart is recruiting a stress engineer for the design engineering team, and a designated engineering representative.
A major focus for Stewart will be to strengthen lean manufacturing and management processes across the organization. His efforts to improve efficiency and reduce waste have already proved successful at the company’s headquarters in Canada – where he worked as a lean manufacturing consultant for two years from 2008. He also led Kaizen projects to improve productivity across the company. Stewart joined the company in a full-time capacity in 2010, becoming director of operations. Prior to his work with Flying Colours Corp, Stewart spent more than a decade at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
“We are close to maximum capacity so need to grow our workforce, and expand our facility, to ensure we can welcome an increased range of aircraft types up to narrow-body in size,” said Stewart. “Applying my experience from the aviation and automotive industries I plan to ensure we maintain our standards and high quality, while developing existing and new revenue streams.”
