Following the success of several maintenance inputs for a A340 at AMAC’s facility in Basel, Switzerland, Sky Prime has tasked the company with performing major modifications on the privately owned aircraft in the second quarter of 2017. Sky Prime’s private aviation services include charter flights and consultancy.
The contract was signed during MEBAA 2016, which took place on December 6-8, 2016, in Dubai, UAE. The work will include cabin reconfiguration, design and refurbishment. As part of this, AMAC will perform structural modifications to install a Live TV system and a Ka-band system designed to enable broadband-class data connectivity. The STCs for the Ka-band and Live TV systems are developed by AMAC’s engineering department. The A340 will also undergo a complete external paint program at a partner facility.
“Access to ultra-high speed, Ka-band and high-speed Live TV is consistent and reliable, which is crucial for private aviation firms,” said Kadri Muhiddin, group executive chairman and chief executive officer, AMAC Aerospace. “VIP business aviation passengers demand connectivity and comfort whenever they fly and need their online services to work as seamlessly in the air as they do on the ground.”
“AMAC has worked closely with Sky Prime, supporting its fleet and operations through our aftermarket and technical services, and we are pleased to extend this support to their next-generation aircraft offering full connectivity,” said Bernd Schramm, group chief operating officer, AMAC Aerospace.
The Basel facility also recently announced four new maintenance contracts on small and mid-size business jets. An A319 will undergo a registration change and owner transfer process. AMAC Aerospace’s maintenance and logistics organization will prepare all the documents needed to fulfill the registration change requirements and release an engineering order for a new livery. AMAC will also perform an annual inspection on a privately owned BBJ, as well as multiple C-checks and minor cabin modifications on another BBJ. In addition, a 60-month check package will be performed for a Bombardier Global Express in January 2017.
