Flying Colours Corp (FCC) has secured approval from the Transport Canada Civil Aviation department to install ADS-B Out technology on Canadian-registered Bombardier Challenger 600-2B16 (604 and 605) and 300 airframes.
FCC is finalizing the installation of its first Canadian-registered aircraft with the system. This approval complements its existing FAA certification, awarded just over a year ago and used on a number of Challenger aircraft. FCC expects to receive validation from EASA in the near future.
“We are well aware that the deadline for this mandate is coming up fast, and we want to be able to support as many of our clients as possible in complying with the regulations,” said Sean Gillespie, executive vice president, FCC. “Our US facility is already handling regular installations and with this new approval we can increase the number of aircraft we put through the Peterborough [Ontario] workshops. We’ve invested significantly in tooling and training to support customers. This latest approval will help us ready existing clients for the changes, and attract new ones too, as we know installation slots are filling up fast.
Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Out (ADS-B OUT) enables the aircraft to report highly accurate position and status information to air traffic control, replacing the need for traditional radar.
