Lufthansa Technik has received the first order for its chair aircraft seat from a VIP customer. Inairvation, Lufthansa Technik’s joint venture with F/List, will coordinate the production of the chairs by F/List.
“This order means the final breakthrough for our vision which we had when we started development of this highly innovative and flexible product a few years ago,” said Oliver Thomaschewski, head of seating and structures in Lufthansa Technik’s Original Equipment Innovation division. “Together with our partners from F/List and Inairvation, we are in the best position to produce any of the several thousands of possibilities offered by the chair family, in absolutely top-end quality.”
The modular platform received 9g and 16g ETSO approval in May 2016. Lufthansa Technik’s Original Equipment Innovation division in Hamburg, Germany, is responsible for airworthiness requirements and the final certification, while F/List takes care of the production of the skeleton and all rigid surfaces at its site in Thomasberg, Austria. Inairvation is coordinating production and sales.
The seating solution was developed and certified by Lufthansa Technik in cooperation with Pierrejean Design Studio. It has a core skeleton that can then be customized with many possible aesthetic designs. For upholstery, the customer can choose from suppliers including Boxmark, an Inairvation partner.
