A full-scale Cessna Citation Hemisphere cabin is on display at NBAA 2016, held in Orlando, Florida, on November 1-3, a year after the program was announced. The clean-sheet large-cabin business jet will be powered by Safran Aircraft Engine’s latest-generation Silvercrest engine, operated with Honeywell Aerospace’s Primus Epic cockpit technologies and integrated with a full fly-by-wire flight control system incorporating components provided by Thales.
The Hemisphere will have a three-zone flat-floor cabin that seats up to 19 passengers. The cabin is 102in wide with a 6ft 2in stand-up clearance, and will have a 5,000ft cabin altitude. Interior furnishings, including seats and cabinetry, will be designed and handcrafted in-house. The fully berthable seats will feature thermoelectric technology to optimize heating and cooling comfort.
The layout on display showcases a workspace, a private stateroom, a modular front galley with granite and stone surfaces, lavatories at the front and back of the aircraft, and a baggage area that is accessible during flight. The aircraft has 20 windows as well as skylights in the front galley and aft lavatory.
“We’ve spent the past several months collaborating with our customer advisory board, which is comprised of industry executives operating various products in this class, to affirm what customers need in this segment,” said Kriya Shortt, senior vice president, sales and marketing. “This input is a key influence as we continue to develop this industry-leading aircraft and we’re eager to showcase the Hemisphere to attendees at NBAA.”
The aircraft will have a range of 4,500 nautical miles. The first flight is expected in 2019.
