Partners Bombardier Business Aircraft and Tianjin Airport Economic Area (TAEA) have announced that their new maintenance facility in Tianjin, China, is making great progress.
The facility will be operated using similar processes and procedures that govern Bombardier’s worldwide network of wholly owned service centers. Bombardier Business Aircraft customers will be able to receive MRO and associated activities and services.
The building’s exterior is 90% complete. Technician training is also well underway, with 14 technicians currently undergoing Bombardier’s type training course for mechanical and avionics certification in Montréal, Canada, before heading to the Tucson service center for an additional three months of on-the-job training. Paired with senior Bombardier technicians, they will perform a series of inspections and troubleshooting exercises to perfect their skills before returning to Tianjin. They will also become familiar with Bombardier service center processes and quality control systems.
“Professional services as well as quality and safety management systems are but a few key features we offer in China,” said Lanny Schindelmeiser, newly appointed general manager, Bombardier Tianjin Aviation Services Company. “The business aviation sector in the region has experienced significant growth in the past, and we are excited to offer customers the full strength of our maintenance and support network, closer to their base of operations.”
“The service facilities for business aircraft operations have greatly improved in Tianjin,” said Zhao Xuesen, vice president of TAEA. “In addition to the upcoming Bombardier Tianjin service center, a new FBO for business jets with customs, CIQ, border inspection and security check services officially entered into service in Tianjin Airport recently. The movement of business aircraft reached 1,302 in Tianjin Airport in 2015.”
Bombardier Business Aircraft will work with the local Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) office to obtain Part 145 certification (MRO), it hopes before the end of 2016, with EASA and FAA to follow shortly thereafter. The facility will include a hangar, office space and back shop areas totaling 95,766ft².
