W L Gore & Associates has launched a family of high-speed data cables for civil aerospace applications including IFE and essential electronic systems. The cables are designed to deliver excellent signal integrity for high-speed data transmission up to 10 gigabits over longer distances. They support standard protocols including Ethernet Cat5e and Cat6a, USB 3.1 and HDMI 2.0.
“The Increasing data rates required to enable the next generation of high-speed data protocols are a real challenge for cable technology,” said Adrian Milne, global product manager for civil aerospace at Gore. “Our thorough understanding of materials and their interaction in challenging environments, combined with our proven experience in providing reliable signal integrity, allow us to excel in this area.”
The cables are constructed with engineered fluoropolymers, and designed to provide durable protection in the most demanding aerospace environments, including a wide range of temperatures. They also have a high-density construction, intended to reduce weight and diameter, for easier installation.
Typical applications for Gore aerospace cables include avionics networks, digital video systems, cabin management systems, flight management systems, Ethernet backbone, content loading systems, weather radar systems and IFEC systems.
