The FAA has awarded type certification to Cessna’s Citation Latitude. The midsize aircraft can accommodate nine passengers in its 6ft-high cabin, which has a flat floor.
Cessna’s Clairity system enables passengers to access IFE and connectivity through their PEDs. Other highlights include an electronically operated cabin door, a new cabin cooling system and a new pressurization system that provides a 5,950ft cabin altitude at the aircraft’s maximum operating altitude, 45,000ft. The Latitude has a range of 2,850 nautical miles at long-range cruise and 2,700 nautical miles at high-speed cruise.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of this 2015. Among the first customers is NetJets, which has ordered up to 150 Citation Latitude jets, with initial deliveries beginning in 2016.
Five new Citation aircraft have been certified over the past 18 months – the Citation M2, Citation CJ3+, Citation Sovereign+, Citation X+ and now the Citation Latitude. The super-midsize Citation Longitude is expected to achieve certification in 2017.
