More than 100 Dassault Falcon jets have been upgraded to Cobham Satcom’s Aviator 700D. A replacement for existing Level-E Aviator 700 and Aero-HSD+ systems, the Aviator 700D system supports communications applications in both the cockpit and cabin, including inflight wi-fi and voice calling.
Cobham Satcom says the upgrade program has minimal impact on the aircraft wiring and structure. It has been implemented on jets including the Falcon 900EX EASy, Falcon 2000EX EASy and Falcon 7X. The solution provides both Inmarsat Classic and SwiftBroadband services in one integrated system, and uses an HGA antenna.
“We are pleased to announce that more than 100 customers are now experiencing the benefits of upgrading to our FANS-compliant Aviator 700D system, which include fuel and time savings, increased aircraft longevity, cockpit connection and increased cabin data connectivity for voice calls, as well as the use of smartphones and tablets,” said Kim Gram, vice president of Cobham Satcom’s aeronautical business unit.
Dassault Falcon Jet has certified the retrofit solution for legacy Falcons as part of the company’s Next Gen programs. Dassault Falcon Jet MRO has already developed, certified and installed an Aviator 700D STC for Falcon 900EX, and has a range of STCs for Aviator 300 and 350 systems. Cobham Satcom has also been selected by Dassault for the supply of its HGA-6000 satcom antenna for the new Falcon 5X and 8X aircraft.
