Work has begun on expanding Comlux America’s VIP completion hangar in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, so that the center will be able to work on narrow-body and wide-body aircraft at the same time. The completion center announced its first wide-body completion – of an A330 based in the Far East – in December 2014. The aircraft will be Comlux America’s ninth interior completion overall.
The hangar expansion should be complete by the fourth quarter of 2015. It will increase the hangar’s size from 128,000ft² to 157,000ft², enabling it to house one wide-body and four narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. The existing facility was inaugurated in 2012.
“We are now capable of doing any type of narrow- or wide-body completion, making us an even stronger player in the industry and on an equal playing field with our biggest competitors,” said Richard Gaona, chairman and CEO, Comlux the Aviation Group.
“As we have continued to tell the world our intentions to expand and grow, this reiterates how serious we are about our future and maintains the Comlux reputation as one of the best completion and service centers in the world.”
