Satcom Direct (SD) has launched another certified aviation course – CyberSAFE (Securing Assets for End Users). Logical Operations developed the course and certified SD to deliver the materials.
Crew, flight department members, passengers and others who support or interact with aircraft communications can learn best practice to keep networks safe. The course covers data security concerns including security compliance, social engineering and malware.
“Something as innocent as opening an email or clicking on links, or even using an infected USB drive in a network computer, can result in a serious breach,” said Mark Mata, director of training at SD. “The CyberSAFE course educates users about technology-related risks and their responsibilities as an end user in protecting organizations from them.”
SD says the course supports self-paced learning, but users can also opt for in-person or live online sessions. The course takes around three hours. Upon passing an online assessment, students are awarded the Certified CyberSAFE credential.
“It’s surprising how little thought many of us give to cybersecurity in our day-to-day actions but cyberattacks are on the increase,” said Mata. “Human error has been identified as the leading cause of cybersecurity incidents and end-user education is one of the top ways to prevent network infection.”
SD recently launched a series of free short workshops – the Cyber Seminar Series – which include an overview of the company’s cybersecurity solutions and the CyberSAFE course. SD’s Cyber Security Solutions Risk Assessment offering also includes a Cyber Security Solutions product and the free Cyber Smart Kit. In 2018, SD will add a Cyber Security Risk Management course for flight departments, which will be part of the NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager credential.
