AMAC Aerospace has completed a major modification project on a G650, ahead of schedule. Gulfstream delivered the aircraft to AMAC’s headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, at the end of 2018.
The head-of-state customer came to Basel with an official delegation to take delivery of the aircraft and expressed their satisfaction with having their expectations exceeded.
The facility has also won several maintenance contracts. One of these is to commence under short notice – an A318 owned by a new customer from the Middle East will arrive in Basel in March 2019 for a heavy base maintenance C-check.
AMAC also inked a contract to perform base maintenance on a B747 for a customer based in the Far East, and another to conduct B1, B2 and due maintenance checks on a B737 for a long-term customer.
Another B737 is due to arrive in June 2019 to undergo a partial cabin interior refurbishment. AMAC will install new HD monitors, screens and switch panels, as well as a Ka-band internet system, making use of an existing STC developed in-house. A new IFE system will also be installed to enable wireless streaming on passenger devices including iPads and laptops.
“AMAC Aerospace is well known for its Ka-band installations and we are proud to install the system on the B737,” said Eric Hoegen, director of completion sales and key account management at the company. “We are delighted to provide our customer with the best connectivity in the air.”
Recently completed work includes an A340 redelivered after a C-check, landing gear overhaul and fuel tank inerting systems installation. AMAC also recently sent technicians to an A320 in Europe requiring AOG support. The aircraft was released on the same day and was able to resume service.
