Hilitech – the joint venture of F/List and Hintsteiner Group, a lightweight composite specialist – has opened a new production plant in Kindberg, Austria. The facility exceeds 20,000ft² (1,858m²) and the plan is to employ more than 100 professionals by 2020. The site will be dedicated to developing and manufacturing cabin systems, linings and composite components, mainly using carbon fiber.
Hilitech’s portfolio ranges from single components – including sliding doors, tables, toilet seats and shower trays – to full lining accoutrements, cabinets and decorative carbon surfaces and applications. Hilitech components are delivered as complete and tested interior solutions, with veneer processing and high-gloss finishes courtesy of F/List.
The company says that special production methods and a unique combination of materials have enabled it to reduce the weight of components by up to 25% compared with conventional construction techniques.
Offering a variety of components demands variable manufacturing processes, tool application and materiality, all tooling is done in-house for maximum precision and flexibility, via a modern production infrastructure including autoclave-/prepreg-technology, vacuum processes, compression molding, wet laminate technology, rapid prototyping technologies, CNC milling, prepreg cutter and 3D scanning.
To build up and retain expertise for the long term, Hilitech has initiated an apprentice training program. It says model making is a multifaceted craft that can be a starting point for an exciting and challenging career with many development possibilities.
