Focused purely on interiors, though across commercial and business aviation, Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) is gearing up to welcome a large number of attendees. The show will be held at the Hamburg Messe in Germany, on 8-10 April 2025. Read on for some of the products and services to be highlighted…
Screens, audio and more
Rosen Aviation looks to build on its introduction at AIX 2024 with a slate of new technologies for commercial, corporate and VVIP aircraft cabins.
With more than 40 years of experience in cabin electronics and IFE, Rosen is poised to make a big announcement just prior to the show that it says will “coalesce its technologies into a cohesive passenger experience”.
The company offers a range of 4K OLED screens from 22in to 97in. This year it will also unveil a new 1 x 3 Digital Skylight configuration, comprised of three 65in OLEDs with curved carbon composite chassis in an ultra-wide aspect ratio. Rosen will showcase its partnerships with 4K camera provider, Otonomy, and 3D visualisation experts, KiPcreating, to demonstrate the various ways digital skylights can be integrated into nearly endless shapes, sizes and aircraft types.
Rosen’s flagship announcement last year, the Immersa In-Seat AudioSphere, designed in collaboration with Laurence Dickie, designer of the Nautilus speaker, also returns in a new product demonstration with enhancements made to sound quality, haptics and spatiality.
Rosen will also bring the new integrated SmartMap Box, which will be compatible with any aircraft display, unlocking smart TV capabilities such as app hosting and streaming in addition to hosting the 4K 3D moving map, FlightPath 3D.
Number projector

The lighting experts at Schott will present a projector designed to make the boarding process easier. The company says that passengers can easily find their rows of seats using targeted colour control – not only enhancing the passenger experience, but also simplifying the crew’s work.
The projection’s colour scheme can be attuned for different purposes throughout the phases of a flight, such as ‘do not disturb’ signs, and it can be adjusted or turned on and off by the crew as needed.
Schott’s projector is not limited to seat numbers – airline logos or short messages can also be projected on the aisle or in front of the seats.
“The qualification process is already in progress, and we are proud to present this new application at the upcoming AIX in Hamburg,” emphasises Philip Fischer, VP aviation, automotive and industrial at Schott.
Next-gen window shades

A new family of window shades, aerLuxe, will be the focus at the Aerospace Technologies Group (ATG) booth. The newest development is a cabin shading solution for multi-window applications in VIP aircraft and first-class suites on commercial airliners.
The aerLuxe shade provides a single ‘picture’ window blind comprised of both light filtering (translucent) and cabin darkening (opaque) modes. With the press of a single button multiple windows disappear, replaced by a fabric wall covering designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding interior.
The foundation of aerLuxe is ATG’s Modular Series of window shades, which has been elevated to a new level of performance through ATG’s NextGen advance electronic control system.
The NextGen controls provide IoT functionality and connectivity to onboard maintenance and CMS, enabling the transfer of performance metrics, remote diagnostics and programming updates without removing the shade.
Decorative surface material

With a focus on customisation, sustainability and luxury, Insperial and its brands, Adhetec and Perrone Leather, will showcase a range of decorative surface materials.
Adhetec, a specialist in decorative laminates for aircraft interiors, will display its Adheskin product line, enabling customisation with a minimum order quantity of one. Attendees can explore three ranges – FB, offering high-resolution custom graphics; CT, for 3D-effect textured surfaces; and the BL line of backlighting-ready translucent layers.
New York-based Perrone Leather will highlight its commitment to sustainability. Its Enduralite synthetic leather is designed to offer great durability at a light weight, while its genuine leather is crafted using modern tanning techniques and water-based finishing processes designed to reduce environmental impact. Perrone has earned ISO 14001 certification and complies with Leather Working Group guidelines.
In an exclusive partnership, Perrone Leather serves as the sole distributor of Alcantara in the aerospace sector, giving clients direct access to Alcantara’s products. Alcantara will showcase next-generation developments at AIX, including high-resolution printing, thermoforming, CNC sewing, and crystal integration.
Induction oven

Iacobucci HF Aerospace will feature its flagship product – the Gusto- Multifunctional Unit – with booths at both Aircraft Interiors Expo and World Travel Catering Expo. The induction oven, specifically designed for aircraft use, enables the preparation of fresh meals.
The Gusto oven’s patented induction system is designed to present several advantages over convection ovens. Iacobucci HF Aerospace says that it is safer, because its surfaces remain cool during operation.
Versatility was a key design goal, and the oven is capable of cooking various dishes, such as roasted meats, eggs, pasta, rice and steaks.
Gusto’s versatility can be extended further with attachments that allow for toasting, grilling and steaming.
In-seat power

Imagik will showcase its latest in-seat power systems. The company says that some in-seat power systems cap the power available in each seat group without the ability to adjust power dynamically, leaving the last person connecting a device with no power at all.
Imagik has developed patented intelligent power delivery (iPD) technology, designed to ensure that every connected USB device receives the required power, by negotiating with each one, adjusting power contracts dynamically as needed. The solution also offers ancillary revenue capabilities.
With the Quatro patented Type-C 60W Gen2, Imagik achieved an overall weight reduction. The seat PSU weighs 0.26 lb (120g) with 240W of power output. A full range of interchangeable outlets (Type C60W, Double C 60W, A+C 60W) is offered, as well as a full line of MCUs with two, four, six or eight zones, covering installations on regional to wide-body aircraft.
Plant-based leather

Willow Tex will be showing BioSyn FR, a bio-based PU leather, used in headliner, sidewall and seating applications. BioSyn FR is manufactured using renewable, plant-based polymers and biomass using 100% recycled fibres.
BioSyn FR can be customised to meet grain, colour and weight specs. The company can also use a variety of bio content to fit different applications.
Willow Tex uses no water in the production of its materials, eliminating the need to separate/process/clean solvent-contaminated water. The materials do not contain toxic plasticisers or PFOA/ PFAS; and BioSyn leather is inherently fire retardant, halogen-free and meets FAA Part 25.853, 12-second vertical, the firm shares.

Techno Aerospace will showcase its interior branding capabilities by displaying recent solutions developed for Emirates, Qatar Airways and other airlines, as well as its latest concepts.
Emirates sought to implement a new branding design in its aircraft that presented complex technical and regulatory challenges.
“When passengers board an Emirates aircraft, they need to identify unmistakably that it’s Emirates,” says Andres Vargas, CEO of Techno Aerospace.
“Creating that immediate brand connection – what we call the ‘brand handshake’ – is crucial for premium carriers like Emirates,” he adds.
Techno Aerospace’s approach resulted in 3D textured bronze wave branding structures that meet stringent weight and flammability requirements while maintaining the desired aesthetic qualities. This solution is now featured across Emirates’ Boeing 777 fleet and new A350s.
Carpets, fabrics and curtains

This year marks Tisca’s 85th anniversary and the company will reveal a new trend collection featuring coordinated carpets, upholstery materials and curtains for VIP and business jets. The collection is inspired by global trends in patterns, textures, materials and colour pairings.
New for this year, the company will show ready-to-install carpets and curtains designed for high sound absorption and to be very easy to install and remove thanks to a new installation system.
The company will also showcase its Waron carpet line, produced in the St Gallen region of Switzerland, which has a rich tradition of embroidery and lace production. The manufacturing process, based on embroidery, gives the carpet a unique surface structure. It uses worsted yarn made of the “highest quality virgin wool”, Tisca shares.
The company will also exhibit handmade carpets, and place an emphasis on sustainability. Tisca carpets are made from recycled and solution-dyed yarns, which are dyed all the way through.
The company says that utilising recycled and reusable yarns enables a closed-loop system, leading to energy savings of up to 85%. It also reports that fewer chemicals and energy are needed since these yarns are dyed as part of the manufacturing process. Tisca fabrics are also recyclable.
Customised leather

Aeristo will highlight how its value-added services – embroidery, embossing, printing, quilting and more – work together to create unique leather applications. The company says its not just about a single technique; it’s about layering textures, combining methods, and refining details to transform raw materials into something special.
Aeristo works with clients to bring their visions to life, from custom patterns to intricate embroidery.
Lightweight filler and primer

The latest product development from coatings manufacturer Mankiewicz focuses on something below the surface: the filler and primer layer.
At the show, Mankiewicz will present Alexit FST PrimeFill, a three-in-one lightweight solution designed to save weight in the cabin.
This is a pore filler, primer and filler in one, intended to save time during application and weight during operation. The water-based product eliminates the need for drying time between the application of filler and primer.
Mankiewicz says these technical advances do not affect the decorative effect of the final coat. Whether the client chooses a special design-effect finish or a more economical textured coating aimed at durability, PrimeFill is designed to provide a lightweight finish that doesn’t compromise the visual appearance, and even helps to prevent telegraphing.
LEO connectivity

Eutelsat OneWeb will promote its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity service, which is now live and operational. The Eutelsat OneWeb LEO network is designed for mobility, to deliver enterprise-grade aviation solutions with guaranteed service levels, and capacity that is not shared with residential users. The company will be offering live demos of the LEO service via a mobile demo vehicle, dubbed ‘Leo’, which will be parked outside the convention centre at space O401.
The service is available for business aviation customers via distribution partner Gogo’s Galileo solution. Leveraging Gogo’s phased array antennas, OneWeb LEO connectivity delivers high-speed internet to any size business jet, anywhere.

The focus for Enflite will be on new galley appliances including the galley stack design debuted at NBAA-BACE 2024. Inspired by a trend for exposed appliances, the stack features two coffee makers, a microwave and a convection oven. The appliances have new glass front faces, and the graphical display has capacitive touch switches.
Features of the coffee maker include a thermally insulated carafe (no hot plate) and a removable reservoir. It can be filled at the front with bottled water, and uses self-contained pillow packs. The unit produces 54oz (1.5 litres) of coffee in roughly eight minutes.
The new 7.5ft3 (212.4 litre) compressor-based refrigerator operates from 15°F to 65°F (-9.4°C to 18.3°C). The cooling module is removable for servicing. Multiple options are available in terms of size, hinge orientation, 115VAC or 28VDC power, and finishes.
There are also convection ovens, designed for zero clearance and even flow; and a microwave that accommodates a full-size plate.
Dimmable windows

Customisable dimmable windows and shading systems for business jets will be the focus for Gauzy Aeronautics (formerly Vision Systems). Its Light Control Glass (LCG) provides dimmable windows that instantly transition from clear to various opacity levels – which the company says blocks UV rays, reduces glare and enhances visual comfort.
Using Suspended Particle Device (SPD) technology, these windows are designed to offer precise dimming, blocking up to 99% of visible light while preserving views. Combined with Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology, the windows provide light-filled privacy with a blackout effect. Passengers can control these features for a personalised experience or synchronise them with cabin automation systems.
Gauzy’s products, including LCG, mood lighting, and pleated or roller shades, can be configured for one, two or three windows. Each shading system offers customisable options such as sheer or blackout screens, personalised load bars, upholstery and mask materials, with synchronisation for control of defined areas, wave effects, and catch-up modes. Additional features, such as segmented tinting and printed brand designs, allow for tailored aesthetics and functionality.
Gauzy is also developing smart glass solutions for partitions with embedded transparent OLED technology, offering messaging, infotainment and instant privacy. Furthermore, the company is developing a modular plug-and-play window designed to combine advanced shading with features to improve the passenger experience, simplify installation, and enhance operational performance.
In-seat power

Transform, a next-generation, retrofit-friendly intelligent in-seat power system, will be highlighted by IFPL. It supports customised power levels, outlet configurations and cabin divisions tailored to operators’ needs.
Beyond commercial aviation, Transform is also a fit for the business jet market, offering high-power USB-C fast charging and a modular design.
A standout feature of Transform is its peer-to-peer wireless communication, which IFPL says eliminates the need for a Master Control Unit (MCU), enabling “seamless power distribution”, and reducing weight and complexity. Over-the-air (OTA) updates allow real-time reconfiguration, ensuring each seat can adapt to changing passenger needs.
Designed for seamless integration into any cabin layout, Transform can be retrofitted into older aircraft with multiple mounting options. Certified under IFPL’s Design Organisation Approval (DOA), it provides a turnkey power solution.
Water disinfection and heating

The latest onboard water disinfection development from International Water-Guard (IWG) is the UVL1, which is powered by LEDs. The unit is 6in (152mm) long with a diameter of 2in (51mm), and it weighs 1.25 lb (0.57kg). It’s typically used for lower flow applications such as lavatory faucets and galley spigots.
Meanwhile the IWG’s T-Series is a family of 5-, 8-, 9-, 10-, 12-, 15- and 18kW on-demand water heaters for high-capacity applications, including showers, galleys, bidets and executive vanities. It runs on 115VAC 400Hz and 115 VAC wild frequency power, and is designed to provide accurate and stable temperature control; multiple plumbing configurations; a preheat function; and RS485 communications.
The IWG-HE lavatory water heater series is a family of PMA drop-in upgrades for multiple Airbus, Boeing and business jet platforms. The heater has an integrated thermal mixing valve for precise temperature control. This also allows the water to be heated to a higher temperature, reducing potential pathogen growth, the company notes. The HE Heater runs on both 115VAC 400Hz and 115VAC wild frequency power and uses existing mechanical, electrical and water connections.
IWG will also show the IWG Healthy Lav, an assemblage designed to improve lavatory hygiene, including a touchless faucet; touchless flush; the HE Heater; and the UVL1 LED UV water disinfection unit. IWG is also developing a touchless soap dispenser and touchless trash can lid. All the touchless products and the point-of-use disinfection UVL1 can be powered from IWG’s Lavatory Control Module, meaning only one new power input to the lavatory is required. Existing cut-outs in backsplashes and panels can be reused.
