Textron Aviation has started building the first full airframe test article of its new clean-sheet single-engine turboprop, the Denali. Work has also begun on building tooling for the production. The company expects the aircraft to make its first flight in 2018, and is accepting letters of intent. A mock-up of the aircraft cabin was unveiled in July 2016.
The cabin is designed to enable easy conversion between passenger and cargo missions. The executive interior features six reclining seats, club-style tables and a refreshment unit, while the commuter cabin has nine forward-facing seats.
Interior highlights include the flat floor, LED lighting and a baggage compartment that is accessible in flight. The digital pressurization system enables a cabin altitude of 6,130ft at 31,000ft. Customers can also opt for an aft belted lavatory (that can be serviced externally) with pocket door.
Performance wise, at high-speed cruise with one pilot and four passengers, the aircraft will offer a range of 1,600 nautical miles.
