Piper Aircraft has gained FAA certification to install the G1000 NXi integrated flight deck on its M500 single-engine turboprop and M350 single-engine piston. The package will also be offered for STC retrofit later in 2018, for the G1000-equipped Matrix, Mirage (M350) and Meridian (M500). Piper also plans to deliver Seneca V aircraft with the new avionics platform from the fourth quarter of 2018.
The system is designed to offer wireless connectivity in the cockpit, better situational awareness, visual approaches and map overlay on the horizontal situation indicator. Piper also says improved processing power leads to better map rendering and smoother panning. Owners of next-generation M350 and M500 Piper models can also opt for SurfaceWatch, Flight Stream 510 and better ADS-B solutions.
“We are thrilled to announce the introduction of the next-generation G1000 avionics in the Piper M500 and M350, further enhancing their position as the value leaders in the marketplace,” said Simon Caldecott, president and CEO at Piper.
“NXi-equipped M-class products are now being delivered as we continue our focus on completing the NXi STC for fielded G1000-equipped M-class products.”
