AFI KLM E&M has opened an innovation center, the MRO Lab Singapore. The move comes a year after the launch of the MRO Lab – Adaptive Innovations program, through which AFI KLM E&M is pursuing its aim of developing an extensive, high-performance research and development network to support its business and MRO services.
Located in the center of Singapore and staffed by locally recruited experts, the MRO Lab Singapore was set up in conjunction with Ramco Systems and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board. Research will focus on strategic areas of the MRO sector, ranging from technician mobility to customer experience, Internet of Things, big data applications, predictive maintenance and artificial intelligence.
“Innovation and disruptive technologies are key to the growth of the aviation MRO industry, where many manual procedures could be improved,” said Virender Aggarwal, CEO of Ramco. “We intend to tap the brightest minds in Asian aviation to develop bespoke, future-ready IPs that bring MRO into the 21st century.”
