The latest interior projects completed by FAI Technik in Nuremberg, Germany, include installing an XRS cabin on a classic Bombardier Global Express. The conversion took 6,000 man-hours and also included a 180-month inspection and paint work.
FAI Technik also recently performed a full cabin refurbishment on a Bombardier Challenger 604 for Air Independence, a German GA operator. That project included a combined 96- and 192-month inspection and new paint.
The company is also now in the process of refurbishing the cabin of a Global Express for the same customer. In addition, the aircraft’s avionics will be upgraded to Batch 3 Honeywell avionics, and ADS-B Out technology and high-speed internet will be installed.
FAI Technik also recently performed its first combined 12-year/12,000-hour inspection on a Learjet 60.
In other news, FAI Technik achieved revenues of €9.7m (US$12.1m) in 2017, a 40% increase over the previous year. “We are extremely pleased to close the year with record results,” said Siegfried Axtmann, FAI Group chairman.
“Our excellent performance was driven by our ability to expand our capacity to meet a growing demand for MRO services. I am very proud of our organization as we continue to develop our MRO business.”
FAI Technik has 60 full-time staff. It added to its existing 2,000m² Hangar 6 and 3,000m² Hangar 7 with a new 4,500m² carbon-neutral Hangar 8 in 2017.
