Following a completion that lasted more than two years, Lufthansa Technik has delivered a BBJ 747-8 to an undisclosed customer. It is the first of three BBJ 747-8 completions undertaken by the company in Hamburg, Germany.
The company said the project was one of the most complex it has undertaken, because of the 440m² cabin and the customer’s wide-ranging requirements in terms of equipment and quality. “The completion of this BBJ 747-8 allowed us to demonstrate all of our skills and competencies,” said Walter Heerdt, head of VIP and executive jet solutions at Lufthansa Technik.
“It is the most extraordinary aircraft that we have completed to date, featuring an unprecedented level of elegance. It is only thanks to the many years of experience, professionalism and passion of our employees that we are able to deliver such unique products to our customers.”
The cabin features more than 300 finishing materials. Every part was custom-made and manufactured by hand. The aircraft has a conference room, a lounge, bedroom and several bathrooms with showers. The integrated CMS and IFE system includes broadband internet, GSM, WLAN, Live TV and satellite communication equipment.
