Jet Aviation has increased its capacity for wide- and narrow-body maintenance, completion and refurbishment projects at its site in Basel, Switzerland, by opening a new 8,700m² (93,646ft²) hangar.
Hangar 3 has a wooden arch structure, high enough to accommodate a Boeing 747 on jacks, while its extended nose-box permits two wide-body aircraft concurrently. In addition to a 5,000m² (53,820ft²) tarmac extension, Hangar 3 provides 2,000m² (21,528ft²) for shops and offices.
“We have a long history of handling major modifications and completions at Jet Aviation, and we continue to invest in the latest technologies that support the highest quality and safety standards for our customers,” said Rob Smith, Jet Aviation Group president. “This hangar demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Basel and the region and is a tribute to our past and future success.”
Jet Aviation held a grand opening event in the hangar for regional government representatives, the EuroAirport management, suppliers, authorities and the media.
Following welcome and acknowledgement speeches, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony, luncheon and tour of the facility.
