Aircraft acquisition, leasing and sales specialist AviaAM Leasing has delivered a Boeing 737-500 to KlasJet following a five-month modification by FL Technics.
“We have been aiming to supplement our diverse fleet with a large business jet suitable for professional sports teams, business travelers and government officials for a while now,” said Tadas Goberis (bottom left), chairman of the board and CEO of AviaAM Leasing.
“Having acquired the Boeing 737 in a condition favorable for such modification, we entrusted FL Technics with the challenging project execution and the result is more than we could have expected.”
The aircraft was built in 1998 and originally used by Continental Airlines for regional and charter flights, seating 126 passengers in economy configuration. AviaAM Leasing acquired the aircraft in November 2016. The modifications involved more than 50 engineering, maintenance and design specialists.
“This project was extremely complex due to an extensive number of technical changes the aircraft had to undergo,” said Romualdas Legetavicius (bottom right), technical director, AviaAM Leasing.
“The modification involved fundamental interior design changes including seat refurbishment, seating configuration changes – from 126 economy to 56 business class leather-covered seats – and the introduction of new LOPAs. Additionally, the aircraft received a luxurious new livery, exquisite wooden design elements and brand new carpet cover, together with cold white lighting.”
The modified Boeing 737 received an EASA STC and airworthiness documentation from the Lithuanian CAA. EuroLeague basketball team Zalgiris Kaunas has already reserved the aircraft to reach matches from later in 2017.
