RUAG Aviation has completed the overhaul of two Winslow life rafts, achieving a turnaround time of less than 24 hours. The rafts were overhauled at RUAG’s component shop in Munich, Germany.
RUAG Aviation guarantees a standard turnaround time of three days on each life raft – promising guaranteed OEM compliance and full certification. In this case, the team rose to the challenge of an even tighter deadline. “We took delivery of the two rafts at 14:53pm on January 23,” said Ralf Dohle, manager, component shops, RUAG Aviation. “To fit in with the customer’s schedule, we had to ensure that we had completed the overhaul of both rafts by 15:00pm the next day. This is only possible thanks to our combination of a lean, highly skilled team, an in-house logistics center, fully SAP-based operations, and an extensive stock of replacement parts.”
The facility in Munich is an approved Centre of Competency for Winslow life rafts. The center also specializes in the testing, recoding, maintenance, repair and overhaul of almost all aircraft components – from flight data and cockpit voice recorders to emergency power supply and underwater acoustic beacons.
