RUAG Aviation, a Bombardier authorized service center, recently performed an 8C check on a Bombardier Global Express XRS at its facility at Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Maximizing use of the downtime, an upgrade to satcom and wi-fi communications technology was performed at the same time.
“Customers have the opportunity to enhance their aircraft’s productivity, even during the downtimes required by heavy maintenance inspections like this 8C check,” said Ralf Ott, senior manager of sales and customer support at RUAG Aviation. “Combining the scheduled visit with additional services from our one-stop-shop portfolio is a very real and effective way to save time and costs while also developing further passenger options to enhance growth.”
The customer chose SwiftBroadband (SBB) to ensure continuous global coverage in both the cabin and cockpit, as well as a new wi-fi router installation with Global VT and XStream for seamless device interfacing. RUAG relied on in-house engineering expertise to tailor the solutions to this aircraft, as well as enable additional personalized options.
RUAG’s Munich location is a Center of Excellence for Bombardier jets. “We have been servicing Bombardier aircraft for 37 years now,” said Volker Wallrodt, senior vice president of business jets, Dornier 228 and components at RUAG Aviation. “Our customers benefit from our accumulated expertise on all services related to their Bombardier business jets, as well as our thorough engineering skills. We encourage our customers to take advantage of scheduled heavy maintenance inspections to enhance the aircraft’s value, performance, comfort and convenience.”
