Spirit Aeronautics recently returned a Bombardier Challenger 604 to its owner after an interior refurbishment.
“This was one of those projects that is just absolutely compelling to talk about simply because of the complexity and the push for complete customer satisfaction beyond the norm,” said Tony Bailey, president and COO of Spirit Aeronautics.
“The first challenging element was that the customer only had very narrow downtime limitations, so we designed, engineered and crafted the new interior elements over the span of a year before the actual refurbishment. This means we pulled and reinstalled the interior numerous times during brief downtime opportunities to make sure we pre-built everything we could so the actual task went as quickly as possible. In addition to the interior, we installed a new Rockwell Collins Venue CMS and a state-of-the-art electrically actuated cabin door by Steecon. In the end, the customer received exactly what they wanted in a timeframe that met their schedule.”
