GDC Technics has completed the installation of a Ka-band connectivity system on a VIP Boeing 787. A second installation is underway and a third (an A319 also coming for a maintenance check) is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2017. All the installations are performed in-house.
The installation enables passengers to stream live TV, hold video conferences and access high-speed internet service. Each aircraft will also be fitted with an Iridium antenna to provide connectivity over the North and South poles.
“This unprecedented technology has put GDC Technics at the forefront of wireless technology capabilities for the industry,” said Mohammed Alzeer, general partner at GDC Technics. “This game-changing technology allows operators to experience the long-anticipated convenience of inflight connectivity that is as good as at-home and in-office features.”
GDC Technics says it can also install Ka-band on B747-300/400, B777-200/300, B737-600/700/900 and A319/A320 types.
