A new power solution has been added to the Empower range for business and VVIP jets, offered by Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES).
The Dual Frequency Converter Unit (DFCU) can produce 4,000W of either 115V or 230V AC on board. It incorporates the latest solid-state electronic circuit breaker (ECB) from Astronics, with programmable ECB outputs that can be custom configured. The company says that as a secondary distribution panel is not needed, cost and weight are saved.
“The DFCU provides a uniquely simple and versatile cabin power system for large business jet aircraft,” said Kellsey Justus, vice president of airborne power and control at Astronics AES. “A single box solution, the DFCU not only provides passengers with convenient power to charge their handheld electronics, but it also provides higher power for galley and lavatory devices.”
