Astronics’ most popular EmPower in-seat power systems outlet units will be available as anti-microbial products from the third quarter of 2021.
The anti-microbial technology can be applied to the EmPower system 110VAC, Type A USB, Type C USB and all combination outlet units. It is expected that all EmPower system outlet units will be produced with this new anti-microbial formulation by early 2022.
The units were developed as part of the company’s ongoing product innovation programme.
“We are a customer-centric organisation, which means both responding to our customers’ needs and identifying solutions beyond what they are requesting,” said Dennis Markert, director of business development at Astronics. “We began reimagining our products early on in light of the pandemic. We recognised that, in addition to the many safety features already included in our outlet units, providing anti-microbial touchpoints would benefit the entire supply chain as well as airlines and passengers.”
The anti-microbial outlet units have been tested in line with the ISO22196 Test for Antimicrobial Activity of Plastics.
