Nextant Aerospace has secured an STC enabling it to install the Gogo Avance L5 connectivity system on Embraer Phenom 300 aircraft. “People have come to expect the same level of connectivity on the ground and in the air,” said Shawn George, vice president at Nextant Aerospace. “This STC enables a first-to-market for the Phenom with the best technology solution available.”
The aircraft was flown straight from the factory to Constant Aviation to be outfitted with the technology upgrade, designed to provide three times faster internet speed and an all-in-one self-contained modem box. The Gogo Avance L5 solution features 4G inflight internet, a smart router and improved wi-fi performance that includes streaming audio and video content, moving maps and flight information.
The air-to-ground (ATG) system either replaces an existing ATG system on an aircraft or would be a new system installed after delivery from the factory. It operates over the Gogo Biz 4G network and provides coverage in the USA, plus parts of Canada and Alaska.
“Clients will be able to stream live video and receive calls and texts with our STC solution,” said George. “This is the first of many 4G STCs that we anticipate – some of which are in development and others already in final stages of approval.”
Nextant Aerospace is the builder of the 400XTi and G90XT remanufactured aircraft and Challenger 604XT Fusion upgrade.
