Lufthansa Technik has refined its emergency floor path marking system to be only visible when actually needed. GuideU CustomFit can be fully integrated in any carpet and flooring design. It is being introduced at Aircraft Interiors Expo, held in Hamburg, Germany, on April 5-7, 2016.
“With the ability to print each individual design directly in our luminous strips, we can now completely integrate emergency floor path marking in the overall design of the airline cabin,” said Torben Biehl, head of product development for GuideU at Lufthansa Technik. “Only in the event of a lighting system outage do the markings appear clearly on the floor and guide the way to the closest exit.”
Lufthansa Technik says that as ever, the system is maintenance free. GuideU, a non-electrical system, can be contoured into virtually any shape. It absorbs light and can show the way to the emergency exits for up to 22 hours without interruption after a brief charging period. GuideU is available in many colors. An even flatter filler is available, which serves as an underlay, and a flexible carpet protector for the carpet edges. The latter is also available in several colors and can be matched with the GuideU color range.
