Business jet sales and acquisitions specialist Jetcraft has become the launch customer for F/List’s Microshield 360 treatment programme. The antimicrobial coating system is formulated to protect against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and other pathogens, while being colourless, odourless, eco-friendly, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and safe for all aircraft interiors. The coating system is available for all in-service aircraft purchased through Jetcraft, and is being applied to all eligible aircraft within Jetcraft’s owned inventory.
“MicroShield 360 is one of many ways we are expanding our offering to meet clients’ needs during COVID-19,” said Chad Anderson, president at Jetcraft. “We are pleased to be the first aircraft dealer implementing the treatment, so buyers can be confident their health is protected when purchasing directly from Jetcraft. Our first two jets, a Bombardier Challenger 604 and Global 5000, were treated by F/List on July 14. I was highly impressed by the speed of the application, which only took two hours from start to finish for a whole year of protection.”
The application takes place in two stages. First, a disinfectant is used to sterilise the cabin. MicroShield 360 is then applied, forming a barrier of nanoscopic spikes designed to destroy germs by piercing their cell membranes, preventing them from adhering to and contaminating a surface.
MicroShield 360 is applied using an electrostatic sprayer, thus generating a molecular bond with the cabin surface that is equal to 40 times the pull of gravity. The company says this results in extreme resistance to abrasion; combined with regular cleaning, the treatment is designed to ensure all surfaces are effectively self-disinfecting for at least 12 months.
